Alexa

I’m at work trying to write the post and I keep getting interrupted.
Seriously. This has taken me two hours.
The subject of this strip has always been one close to Lincoln’s heart.
The decline of the fishing industry in the north and south forks of Long Island.
Also, the decline of shellfish harvesting.
These dominated Lincoln’s life and career in a period when no one though it would ever be an issue.
After all, Didn’t George Washington declare Sag Harbor an offical port of entry in 1797?
He did.
Who would have thought that Billy Joel could have captured Lincoln’s heart with such clarity so many years later?
Nonbody! That’s who!
And now, a quote from Lincoln’s famous Montaulk Address:
Four score and seven years ago, we were on the Downeaster Alexa as a nation. As we are cruising through Block Island Sound and have charted a course to the Vineyard but tonight we are Nantucket bound that all striped bass are created equal.

Hey, I’m from Maine and not remotely a Downeaster!
Awww, a Long Island tribute post! How sweet, guys. Thank you! ;)
