Shut up, Rose
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
This past Saturday while we were taking pictures, thr bricks with which the Daniel & Stephen Pictographic Jocularity is built, Bea Arthur died.
Except for Chris who, we find out more and more, grew up in a cave by the sea, we all grew up watching the Golden Girls. Well, some of us grew up watching Maude or reruns of Maude.
Both shows starred Bea Arthur.
Bea was hugely influential in the developement of women in comedy breaking the stereotypes set down in either the 1700s or theĀ 200s (depending on your sources) and solidified by Gracie Allen and Molly McGee.
Thank you, Bea Arthur, for showing the world that women can be strong and hurtful just as well as men.
…but, of course, she did some dumb shit too.
