Chris doesn’t like it when I welcome you to the Dan & Steve Show, but I’m always so happy to have you guys here because without fans, I would only be myself. Mostly, though, I bring this up because, like my angry collaborator, I would like to welcome those who found us on StumbleUpon for checking us out. It is my sincere hope that 10% or more of you will stay to become Dan & Stevedores. Welcome to our arrogant house of hijinks and shenanigans… also some tomfoolery. And, on occasion, some distressing violence.

I think we were actually cursing a each other. Usually, we strive to be very funny here at the Show. Once in a while, though, we try to do something impressive so you can say, “boy, those guys are skilled.” We don’t usually try to draw attention to it, but, then, sometimes we do.

Like today. Obviously, we aim for comedy. Believe me, if we didn’t, we’re capable of writing some dialogue to break your heart, but, I don’t believe in tears. The real showcase, though, is our beloved polyptych done to extravagance.

Some trivia for you? You can see this staircase in the background of the Lincoln strip. (2 strips back).
But, you see, some people would klassify us as a “photocomic” or “fumetti” and they would not be wrong in this, but, we think of ourselves as simply “comics” and while fun techniques like this aren’t new to the medium by any stretch (the staircase style polyptych calls to mind some of Alan Moore’s run on Miracle Man, ne Marvel Man) you don’t see stuff like this too many comic strips. More serious, more epic works, yes. But we are craftspeople here and we work hard to give you things you don’t see everyday.

The idea for this strip was simply that we thought we could do this. We went out, found the staircase, framed it, and found that we could, in fact, do this thing. So, we took a bunch of pictures and came up with the dialogue later. Normally, we have more cohesive ideas. That day, we were just taking pictures and trusting that we could make things up later.

Additionally, I hope those few of you who have expressed your concern regarding my twin brother, John, will be assuaged by this strip as it clearly states that he is not dead. I also hope that you look forward to meeting Chris’ evil twin. His name shall remain a secret for the time being.

I hope you’ve enjoyed your insight into our process, such as it was this time around. Thank you and have a delightful weekend.
